Val d’Or Estate is set on 10 hectares of winelands, with the picturesque Franschhoek mountains as a backdrop. The Estate features two dams which attract a variety of birds and small wild life, which makes for a very pleasant afternoon. The shady Lapa provides a much needed respite under the hot South African sun, especially if you feel like cooling off in the large pool. The gardens are immaculately manicured, and create a restful setting for those in need of quiet beauty. Large shady trees, and manicured lawns provide the perfect environment to any function, or to just enjoy – away from the hustle and bustle of life.


Val d’Or Guest House is a four-star graded establishment, with Guest House accommodation, as well as luxury Self Catering units. All accommodation has full amenities and facilities.

There is a reception, bar and a formal dining area, as well as an outside dining area under the trees. A separate conference facility and function venue is also available if required for small events. The grounds of the Estate include a Pool and Lapa (with a bar and braai area), various ornamental dams, play area and beautiful views all round. The beautiful scenery and dams attracts many different birds and wildlife, and is the perfect setting for a relaxing afternoon.


Apart from being South Africa’s gourmet capital, with award winning restaurants and wineries, Franschhoek offers a host of activities, that will get you back to nature.

There are many of walking trails, mountain biking paths, golf courses, as well as other outdoor activities for those more energetic. Trout fishing, wine tasting, picnics and chocolate making tours can all be arranged in order for you to experience, first-hand the diversity of this beautiful village. Or if you prefer a massage, or a unique shopping experience – Franschhoek offers a variety of facilities.
